AS3 Aspirated Screen Sensor

The AS3 aspirated screen sensor is designed for accurate temperature and humidity monitoring at plant level within commercial greenhouses. Housed in a durable white powder coated aluminium enclosure, it is built for long term use in demanding horticultural environments.

The unit is fitted with a stainless steel hook, allowing it to be suspended directly at crop height for representative climate readings. An internal fan continuously draws air across the integrated temperature and humidity sensors, helping to reduce stagnant air effects and improve measurement reliability. Both sensors are mounted on a single board, simplifying installation and wiring.

The AS3 connects via internal terminals suited to a two pair screened cable, with Belden 8723 or equivalent recommended. It provides 4 to 20mA outputs for both temperature and humidity, making it compatible with a wide range of greenhouse control systems.

In practical terms, this allows growers to monitor environmental conditions precisely where it matters most, supporting better climate control decisions and more consistent crop performance.

FAQs

Why use an aspirated screen sensor instead of a standard temperature probe?

An aspirated sensor uses a small internal fan to draw air across the sensing elements. This reduces the impact of stagnant air and radiant heat, providing more representative temperature and humidity readings within the crop canopy.

Is the AS3 compatible with existing greenhouse control systems?

Yes. The AS3 provides industry standard 4–20mA outputs for both temperature and humidity, making it suitable for integration with most commercial greenhouse climate control systems.

Where should the AS3 sensor be positioned in the greenhouse?

The sensor is designed to be suspended at plant height using its stainless steel hook. Installing it within the crop canopy ensures measurements reflect the actual growing environment rather than roof-level or walkway conditions.
