BS1 Pipe Temperature Sensor
The BS1 pipe temperature sensor is designed for accurate monitoring of soil, bench or water temperature within commercial greenhouse environments. It is compatible with any of our control systems and provides reliable temperature feedback to support stable crop management.
The sensor features a stainless steel probe mounted on a 4 metre flying lead, allowing flexible positioning directly into soil beds, growing media or water tanks. The associated aluminium enclosure houses the electronics and is rated to IP44, offering protection against moisture and general greenhouse conditions.
In practical terms, the BS1 allows growers to monitor root zone and water temperatures . This helps maintain consistent growing conditions, supports irrigation and heating strategies, and provides valuable data for climate control decisions.
Installation, integration and ongoing support are carried out by our technicians, ensuring the sensor operates correctly within your wider control setup.

FAQs
For meaningful data, the probe should be placed at root zone depth within the growing media, or directly within water lines or tanks where temperature consistency matters. Positioning should reflect the area you want to control, not just the easiest place to install.
Accurate temperature feedback allows the control system to adjust irrigation timing, heating inputs and environmental settings more precisely, helping to maintain stable conditions and avoid plant stress.
A screened three core cable is recommended to reduce electrical interference and maintain signal accuracy, particularly over longer distances or in environments with multiple electrical systems operating nearby.
